· Step 1:
Remove Glass. To keep from breaking the precut
pieces of glass, remove them from the package
using an X-acto knife.

· Step
2: Foiling the Glass -Using the 7/32”
copper foil, position the glass in the center of
the foil, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the
foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Foil the
inside edge of the frame with 7/32” copper foil.

Step 3: Burnishing the Foil -
Use a fid, Lathkin or smooth roller to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass.
Lay the ring on your work surface and hold it in place
with push pins, then lay of the prefoil glass pieces inside
the ring so that the Light House and Rocks the outer edges of the ring.
Mark the Rocks on the inside of the ring and cut off the
excess glass, then foil the edge that will be attached
to the ring.
Take a
small strip of foil and wrap it from the inside edge of
the ring outward making sure it is firmly burnished it to
the ring where ever the glass touches and should be
secured to the ring.. The reposition the glass pieces tightly
together again with the ring and use the push pins to
hold everything in place.

Step 4: Fluxing
the Panel - Using a flux brush, apply the flux
to the copper
foil lines. Flux comes in a liquid or paste form.
The flux etches the copper, which allows it to
accept the solder.

Step 5: Soldering the Panel & Cleanup
- Tack-solder at the joints to keep the pieces of glass
from moving. Run a smooth, rounded bead on the front and
back of the panel. Solder panel to the quick frame.

· Step
6: Clean
To
remove the flux. This will prevent oxidation crust
on the solder and allows patinas to work proper.

7: Apply Patina
After
applying wait to develop the color to the desired effect
and then reclean the entire project.
· Step
8: Finishing Compound
Give
your solder and glass a bright, even, durable finish to
protect against tarnish. OPTIONS:
Attach Wire for Chimes And Chimes
Form the pre-bent wind chime wire attachment at the bottom of the panel and solder in place. Clean the project with warm soapy water and flux remover. Apply black patina. Using a glass wax will give a shine to the glass and the solder and prevent oxidation. Attach a chain to the hooks.
Using the diagram on the Wind Chime Accessory package attach wind chimes to the panel.
