Step 1: Foil Bevel Pieces
Use 7/32” copper foil to foil all bevel pieces,
using the Silver Backed foil. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass.

Step 2: Tack Solder
Fit all beveled pieces together and hold in place with push pins. Use a flux brush to apply flux to the copper foil lines
in the center where they meet. Flux etches the copper foil, which allows it to accept the solder. Keep the pieces of glass from moving by tack-soldering each joint.

Step 3: Measure and Cut Spirit Glass Pieces
Center the bevel heart
on top of the spirit glass and drawl the V on each arm of
the cross, drawing the line all the way to the edge of
the glass. Cut each V
shape cutting on the outside edge or your line. Grind
the background pieces to fit.
Lay all pieces together and check the size.

Step 4: Foil all glass and Bevel Pieces
Use 7/32” copper foil to foil all bevel pieces
exposed edges and all spirit glass edges, using the
Silver Backed foil. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass. |

Step 5: Solder
Fit all beveled pieces together with the spirit glass and hold in place with push pins. Use a flux brush to apply flux to the copper foil lines

Then run a
a line of solid solder where all edged of glass and
bevel meet.
Step 6:
Ring for Hanger
Flux the top and ring. Lightly
solder the ring to the top bevel tip.

Step 7: Cleanup
Clean with soap and water. A glass wax can be used if desired to polish and enhance the glass and
solder.
