Other Supplies

Clean Up Supplies:

· Flux Cleaner or Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1: Foil Glass Pieces
Use 7/32” black backed copper foil to foil 3 holly leaves and 3 ½” circles for the berries. Position the glass in the center of the foil, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass.

Step 2: Assemble and Solder
Arrange holly leaves and berries. Tack solder at each place where glass touches. Solder together making sure to tin all areas of exposed foil. Solder both sides of the suncatcher.

Step 3: Attach Ring for Hanging
Solder a ¼” preformed ring to the top of the suncatcher/ornament.

Step 4: Cleanup and Patina
Clean with soap and water. If desired, use black patina to turn the solder lines black and rinse with water and dry.
