Clean Up Supplies:

Step 1:  Cut Hearts and Holly Leaves to Fit
Bow: Lay 2 hearts side by side touching at the bottom of the heart. Lay a 1” circle on top of the where the hearts touch. Using a marker or pen, trace around the circle. This will provide a guide to where the bottoms of the heart need to be cut. Use a glass cutter to cut the bottoms of the heart off.
Holly Leaves: Lay 10 holly leaves in a circle using the 8” iron metal ring as a guide. Add the cut hearts and circle that form the wreath bow. There will be a small space on each side of the bow. Lay another holly leaf on each side of the bow to determine where the holly leaves need to be cut. Use a marker or pen, trace around the heart onto the holly leaves and cut.

Step 2: - Foil Glass Pieces

Use 7/32” black backed copper foil to foil 10 holly leaves, the cut holly leaves, the cut hearts, a 1” circle, and 9 - ½” circles for the berries. Position the glass in the center of the foil, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass.

Step 3: Assemble and Solder

Arrange holly leaves, bow, and berries as shown in the picture. Lay the 8” iron metal ring on top of the holly leaves and bow to check spacing. The 8” ring should be in the middle of all the holly leaves and where the holly leaves meet. Remove ring and tack solder at each place where glass touches. Solder the bow and berries in place. Turn project over. Lay the 8” ring on top and tack solder each place the ring touches foil. Solder and tin all exposed foiled areas of the wreath.

Step 4:   Attach Ring for Hanging
Solder a 7/32” preformed ring to the top of the wreath.

Step 5: Cleanup and Patina
Clean with soap and water. If desired, use black patina to turn the solder lines black and rinse with water and dry.
