Lady Bug Rootie Tuber

Materials:

· (1) - Ladybug Suncatcher Kit

Other Materials:
· Small Paint Brush to apply Lady Bug Dots
· Flux
· Solder
· Flux Cleaner

· Step 1:  Remove Glass
To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife or razor blade. 

· Step 2:  Foil Ladybug

Use 7/32” silver backed copper foil to foil all pieces of the ladybug suncatcher. (Small ladybugs are not foiled). Position the glass in the center of the foil, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass. 

· Step 4:  Finish Ladybug
Apply black patina if desired and clean with soap and water.  Use the black glass paint to pain black dots on the red Ladybug wings.  Allow the ladybug dots to dry overnight. 

· Step 5 – Wrap Glass Tube with Wire
Cut a piece of 16 gauge wire a foot long. Make a loop at one end of the wire. Start at the top of the glass tube and wrap the wire around the tube as shown in the picture above.

· Step 6 – Glue Ladybugs to Glass Tube
Use E6000 Glue to adhere the large ladybug and small ladybugs as desired to the glass tube.  Glue ladybugs directly on the tube.

· Step 7 – Attach Chain for Hanging
Attach chain to 16 Gauge wire to hang your Glass Lady Bug Rootie Tuber.

· Step 8 – Glass Tube
Add water and a plant cutting and enjoy!
