Beveled Rootie Tuber

Materials:

Other Materials:

· Flux Cleaner

· Step 1:  Foil Bevels

Use 7/32” silver backed copper foil to foil all bevel pieces. Position the glass in the center of the foil, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass. 

· Step 2: Assemble and Solder
Use a flux brush to apply flux to the copper foil lines. Flux etches the copper foil, which allows it to accept the solder.

Tin all edges of each bevel.

Carefully fit the 1” inch bevel into the bevel tube and solder in place.

· Step 3: Attach Glass Hangers
Solder a glass hanger on each side of the top of the bevel tube.

· Step 4:  Cleanup and Patina
Clean with soap and water. A glass wax can be used if desired to polish and enhance the glass. 

· Step 5 – Attach Chain for Hanging
Attach chain to glass hangers.

· Step 6 – Glass Tube
Gently insert the glass tube into the bevel tube, add water and a plant cutting and enjoy!
