Glass Wild Flower

Can be made as a single flower with out the clear petals for double petals or with the clear petals to create flower petals layers for more dimension.

Glass Materials:

· Fid or Lathkin to burnish the foil
· Flux & Brush
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
· Cold Polishing - (one of the following)
· Grinder 
· Abrasive Stone 
· Diamond Nail File
· 3M™ Diamond Coated Sanding Sponges

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Remove Glass
To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife.

Step 2 - Foil Glass Pieces
Use 7/32” copper foil to foil each flower petal. Foil each petal, wrapping the entire piece. Overlap the foil where the ends meet about 1/8”. Use a fid or lathkin to burnish the foil. Burnishing smoothes the edges of the foil and adheres the sticky side of the copper foil tape to the glass.

Step 3 - Assemble and Solder Flower Petals

Tack Solder the petals to the yellow center of the flower, alternating the smaller white petals.  Place the second layer of flower petals on top of each clear petal, holding each petal at the desired angle before tack soldering.  By placing the petal pieces separately you can create a dimensional look. Apply flux brush to copper foil surface to allow the solder to be accepted. Run a smooth, rounded bead of solder as desired to the joint of each petal and Tin the outer edges.
