· 1 1/2 Square Feet of glass
Used for the background, grass and pond.

Note: You may want to consider iridescent glass for accent for a few pieces

Tip:
You can make mosaic pieces by scoring the glass at ½” intervals and then breaking. Use mosaic nippers to create the mosaic pieces from the ½” strips.

· 14 inch Round Piece of Wood

· Sawtooth Hanger (if hanging)
· Latex Blue Paint
· Latex/rubber gloves
· Sponge
· Masking Tape
· Razor Blade or X-acto™ Knife

· Step 1: Remove Glass. To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife. Use our precut glass with you mosaic tiles.

· Step 2 Prepare the Back and Sides of the Wood Base

Determine the best/smoothest side of the wood base. This will be the back of the mosaic mirror. Paint the back and sides of the wood base with blue latex paint.

· Step 3: Waterproof the Front of the Wood Base (Mosaic Side)

Mix one part white glue with one part water. Coat the unpainted side of the board with the solution. This will provide a waterproof protective barrier between the board and the mosaic piece. This process prevents the wood base from warping.

· Step 4 (optional): Attach Hanging Hardware

On the painted side of the wood base, measure approximately one inch from the top edge and continue to secure a sawtooth hanger to the wood base.
· Step 5: Glue the Mosaic Pieces

Glue the precut mosaic designs with mosaic glue to the prepared mosaic surface. Using any scraps of green glass, glue in the shape of leaves for an accent. Use a light tan colored glass to create the bottom of the pond. Fill in remaining areas with your back ground glass. We use blue until the design is complete. You can make mosaic pieces by scoring the glass at ½” intervals and then breaking. Use mosaic nippers to create the mosaic pieces from the ½” strips. After the design is complete allow the project to dry for 24 hours.

Tip: Resist grinding your mosaic tiles. Grout will not cover chipped glass edges.

· Step 6: Grouting

Place the project on newspaper. Mix grout according to manufacture’s instructions. The grout should be the consistency of a thick milk shake. Spread the grout with your gloved hand and press grout into all crevices. Work the outer edges easily to form a rounded grout edge. Wait 10 minutes to allow the grout to set up.

· Step 7: Cleanup

Carefully start wiping the grout with a lightly dampened sponge being careful not to pull grout out of the crevices. Rinse sponge frequently. Remember it is import the sponge be as dry as possible. After the excess grout has been removed allow the grout to dry for another 45 minutes. Using a soft cloth and 0000 steel wool, buff the glass and grout and use a razor blade to remove spots of dried glass.
