· Latex/rubber gloves
· Sponge

· Razor Blade or X-acto™ Knife

· Step 1: Prepare the Table Top
Mix one part Weldbond glue with one part water. Coat the top of the table with the solution. This will provide a waterproof protective barrier between the wood table top and the mosaic pieces. This process prevents the wood from warping.

Step 2:  Remove Glass
To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife or razor blade.

Step 3:  Transfer Star Pattern to Table Top
Enlarge the star pattern at the bottom of the page 300% at you local photo copy center. The star should be approximately 15" Draw the large star in the center of the table using the star pattern.

Step 4: Fill in Blue Star
Glue the 2” and 1” stars inside the large star drawn on the table top with Weldbond glue. Fill in remaining areas with the blue glass cut into chips. After the design is complete allow the project to dry for 24 hours.

Step 5:  Fill in Background with Red and White Stripes
Cut the red and white glass into 1 3/8” strips. Fill in the background by alternating red and white strips as shown in the picture. Cut and fit one stripe at a time by laying the strip where it will be positioned and marking the strip where it should be cut to fit. Repeat until the background stripes are finished and glue. Grind if necessary.

Step 5 - Grouting
Place the project on newspaper. Mix grout with a small amount of water until the grout is the consistency of a thick milk shake. Spread the grout with your gloved hand and press grout into all crevices. Wait 10 minutes to allow the grout to set up.

Step 6 - Cleanup
Carefully wipe the grout with a lightly dampened sponge being careful not to pull grout out of the crevices. Rinse sponge frequently. Remember it is import the sponge be as dry as possible. After the excess grout has been removed allow the grout to dry for another 15 minutes. Use a soft cloth and ‘0000’ steel wool to clean the glass. Use a razor blade to remove spots of dried glue.
