· 1 1/2 Square Feet of Tan glass to be used for the background.

· 1/2 Square Feet of Red glass to be used for the background.

Note: You may want to consider iridescent glass for few accent pieces.

Tip:
You can make mosaic pieces by scoring the glass at ½” intervals and then breaking. Use mosaic nippers to create the mosaic pieces from the ½” strips.

· We picked up our table at the thrift store.

· Latex/rubber gloves
· Sponge
· Masking Tape
· Razor Blade or X-acto™ Knife

· Step 1: Remove Glass. To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife. Use our precut glass with you mosaic tiles.

Step 2:  Prepare the Table Top
(only necessary if table top is wood) Mix one part Weldbond glue with one part water. Coat the top of the table with the solution. This will provide a waterproof protective barrier between the wood table top and the mosaic pieces. This process prevents the wood from warping.

Step 3:  Glue the Mosaic Pieces
Glue the four precut mosaic rose designs with Weldbond glue to the prepared mosaic surface. Cut small red mosaic pieces and glue them around the edge of the table to create a border. Fill in remaining areas with the tan back ground glass. After the design is complete allow the project to dry for 24 hours.

Tip: Resist grinding your mosaic tiles. Grout will not cover chipped glass edges.

Step 4: Grouting
Place the project on newspaper. Mix grout with a small amount of water until the grout is the consistency of a thick milk shake. Spread the grout with your gloved hand and press grout into all crevices. Wait 10 minutes to allow the grout to set up.

Step 5:  Cleanup
Carefully start wiping the grout with a lightly dampened sponge being careful not to pull grout out of the crevices. Rinse sponge frequently. Remember it is import the sponge be as dry as possible. After the excess grout has been removed allow the grout to dry for another 15 minutes. Use a soft cloth and 0000 steel wool to clean the glass. Use a razor blade to remove spots of dried glue.
