Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
|
|
·
Step 1: Preparation
Cut each 1 1/2 inches off the end of each 6" x
6" square of white glass square. Save these
strips
Optional Design Enhancement: from 2 1/2 inches on each
side draw a curve to the top center top of the glass and
then cut each curve and grind to make sure they are
smooth.
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
· Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln
wash to the mold, set aside to dry.
·
Break Noodles to fit across the 6" square, we used
red.
· Break stringers in desired colors
approximately 1 inch long.
|
|
·
Step 2: Position Precut Glass, Stringer
and Noodles
|
|
Place your pieces side by side before you start to
position your glass pieces with a tiny spec of Elmer's
glue. Measure 3/4" from the bottom before
placing your first glass noodle. Measure 1"
from the top of this noodle towards the top and position you
top glass noodle.
Position each glass stringer in desired pattern and
small pieces of noodle and/or frit using small specs of
Elmer's glue.
|
|
|
Note: we use some glass stringer on the glass Chili Peppers to create
depth and give the illusion of being kissed by the sun.
Position the two pieces of the napkin holder end to end and adhere with
Elmer's glue. Take one strip of the wire glass you cut off
earlier and center it over the seam with specs of Elmer
glue. This will make the bottom of the napkin holder
a double thickness and studier. Plus the added weight
makes it more stable when standing.
After the glass is dry, move
the prepare glass onto the kiln shelf paper/shelf and full
fuse.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature.

·
Step 3 - Prepare for Slump Process:
Place your kiln shelf paper on the kiln shelf and over
the fire brick. Position the Fire Brick in the center of
the kiln. Place the center of the glass over the Fire
Brick. Make sure there is nothing in the way of the
glass as it slumps down. Follow Slump Schedule.
