Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
Clean Up Supplies:
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
· Step 1: Prep
Pattern
Print Foot Pattern above onto paper. Trace with a permanent marker
onto your white glass. Cut and grind the glass if necessary
to make it fit the mold.
|
|
·
Step 2: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Prep Mold & Prep Kiln:
· Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln wash to the mold set aside to
dry
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
|
·
Step 3: Put Glass project together
Cut the red glass jewelry shapes in half or less
depending upon the size of each toe nail. If needed,
grind each piece until you are satisfied of their shape to
represent each toe nail. Use "tiny"
drops of glue and position each piece of glass
|
|
·
Step 4: Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
·

Step 6: Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the
finished piece to polish the edges.
|
|
·
Step 7: Add Decals and Prepare for Slumping
Cut
the Hire Fire decal of your choice into strips to form the
shape of straps on a sandal and per instructions.
Clean
the fused glass.
·
Step 8: Place into Kiln
Slump Fuse: Set fused glass on mold and use the below firing schedule to slump.
