Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
Clean Up Supplies:
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
|
|
Step 1: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
|
Step 2: Prepare Project for Fusible Glass Decals
Draw on the back side of the decal with a pencil for
all 9 pieces, 7 Pendant & 2 Earrings. Cut out decals and
remove protective tissue covering.
Note:
Apply Gold Seed High
Fire decal to "surface" of the base pieces.
Capping
each decal covered piece with a same sized blue glass
piece.
It is
important to follow the instructions that come
with your decals! Keeping you glass free of oil from your
fingers is very important. Cut the decals leaving a
little white edge. Place in a small amount of clean
water and using a pair of tweezers take the decal out of
the water when it starts to curl. Using the side of a tooth
pick, hold slide the decal of the paper back and position
on the glass where you want it. It is important to remove
any air from under the decal. Some people like to
use a squeegee but the side of a tooth pick will also
work. If you use too much water the decal may
slide around (if this occurs, blot with the corner of a paper
towel to wick away the extra moisture). Let dry completely, over
night is preferable, before the final firing. Even the
smallest amount of moisture can steam the decal from the
glass surface, resulting in a partial transfer.

|
Step 3: Place into Kiln
Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
Step 4: Kiln Firing Process- Full Fuse

Step
5: Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the
finished piece to polish the edges.
|
|
Step 7: Adding Bails to all pieces
Attach
Earrings Pieces:
Using Triolyse
Glue attach an earring post to the top, backside of each earring.
Using Triolyse
Glue attach the large gold bail to the top backside of the largest
piece.
Using Triolyse
Glue attach the smaller gold bails to the top backside of the 2
pieces that are the same size of the earrings.
Cut
off 4 of the discs, minus the rings from a gold bracelet.
Make sure the loops are positioned at the top and bottom
of each of the smaller pieces of glass and using Triolyse
Glue attach them centered.
|
|
Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol when done.
