Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
|
|
·
Step 1: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
·
Break Glass Noodles into small pieces to fit and set aside
|
·
Step 2: Cut Brass Sheet Dolphins
Cut the Mother & Baby Dolphin out of the brass sheet
using scissors. Use a stylus or pencil tip to indent
fins, eyes and mouths. Use tiny drops of glue to position
the dolphins.
|
|
·
Step 3: Add
frit
If using transparent blue glass for the bottom layer then
sprinkle with white frit. If using a clear glass for the
bottom, sprinkle a mixture of the White and blue frit. The
goal is to create an under water look. The added benefit
of the frit is to provide paths for the air to escape or
to create bubble depending upon how much is used and its
position does not allow escape routes out to the edges. Place
a clear glass on top.
Tip: It is important to note that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass.
·
Step 4 - Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
·
