Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:

Clean Up Supplies:

Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Initial Preparation
Clean Glass:  using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

Clean & Prep Kiln:
    Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

Step 2: Prepare the project:   Apply paint medium to the surface of clear star.

For the Gold star, sift the paint over the entire surface.  Then using a plastic fork with the tips cut off, drag it thru the paint to create your pattern (whipping off the excess paints in between strokes). Start the strokes from the center moving towards the outside points of the star.

For the Silver Star, snap to size and apply the pieces of the glass ziq zag and then sift over the silver sparkle paint but make sure that you use a brush to remove any excess from the surface of the glass zig zag.

Step 3:  Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or  wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.   Place the large star with the painted side down.  Then place the smaller star in the center of the large star with the point offset to the large star's points making sure the Dicro Slide tm is on the bottom side and sandwiched between the two pieces of glass.  Make sure to leave a minimum of 1/2" (13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not touch and fuse together.

Step 4: Kiln Firing Process- Slump Fuse
(You could also do a full fuse for a smoother look with rounded edges)

SMALL/MEDIUM PROJECTS  ·  SLUMP

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   15°F/ 7°C 1,000°F / 538°C 1 Min. Remove Vent
Increase/Temp   Full Speed 1,325°F / 777°C 20 Min.  Observe
Flash/Cool Highest Speed 1,100°F / 593°C 0 Min. Open & Close Lid
Hold/Temp   5°F/ 3°C 955°F / 513°C 30 min. Hold Fire
Decrease/Temp   3°F/ 2°C 750°F / 400°C 1 min. DO NOT LOOK
Cool/Temp   Do Nothing 100°F / 38°C N/A DO NOT LOOK

Note: If you do not get a full slump, you can ramp up another 5 degrees (never more than 20 degrees more) and never hold more than 20 minutes at any temperature.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature  and it is ready to use.

Step 5: Add Jewelry Finding
Attach the glass hanger finding to the top backside of star tip using the Triolyse glue.  Make sure the glass is clean and dry and when placing it on the center, back side.  Maximum strength is reached after 6 hours. (Read the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue)
