Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
· Step 1: Place
your mold face down on paper and trace it onto paper.
Cut on the inside of the line. Trace with a permanent marker
onto your colored glass. Cut and grind it if necessary
to make it fit the spoon pattern.
|
|
·
Step 2: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
|
|
·
Step 3: Put Glass project together
Using
a hole punch, cut out dot of
Dicro
Slide ™
and place them on the base glass, randomly to represent
bubbles. Make sure to follow the instructions on how to
apply
Dicro
Slide ™
· If needed, use "tiny"
drops of glue and position the 2 pieces of glass
together matching the edges.
Note: We used a white base with a blue/green glass
for the topside.
|
|
|
·
Step 4: Note:
It is important to note that you need to make sure to
touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid
finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass.
·
Step 5: Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
·

Step 7: Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the
finished piece to polish the edges.
|
|
·
Step 8: Add Decals and Prepare for Slumping
Clean
the fused glass and then apply the low fire decals on the
top side of the blue/green glass.
Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln wash to the mold set aside to dry.
Clean & Prep Kiln Shelf: Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) or cut an 8 inch square of shelf paper.
·
Step 9: Place into Kiln
Slump Fuse: Set fused glass on mold and use the below firing schedule to slump.
