Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
Clean Up Supplies:
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
|
|
Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
|
|
Step 2: Put Glass project together
CUT THE CLEAR HEART IN HALF
Trace
the black heart onto the back of the Dicro Slide ™, cut
out and adhere to the front side of the Black heart. When the
Dicro Slide ™ is dry, place a small dot of glue on the heart and
position the clear half of the heart onto one side, on top
of the Dicro Slide ™.
Note:
You do not
need to use the glue but if you are making many pieces
of fused glass jewelry at the same time it will make you
life easier when moving or positioning them in the kiln.
|
|
Step 3: Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.

Step
5: Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the
finished piece to polish the edges.
|
|
Step 6: Adding Bail
Attach
the Bail on the back of the glass using the Triolyse glue.
Make sure the glass is clean and dry and when placing it
on the center, back side. Maximum strength is
reached after 6 hours.
