· 1 piece of white COE 90 or 96 glass for base depending upon the piece of scrap glass you are using for the top. Dimensions: 4 inches x 1 inch wide. 
Note: the above recommended base glass is already cut to 4 inches long and you can cut it into 4 strips for barrettes.

· 1 piece of scrap glass (we use black on clear confetti glass) COE 90 or 96 glass for base depending upon the piece of scrap glass you are using for the top. Dimensions: 4 inches x 1 inch wide.

  Dicro Slide ™ (Dicro Paper) we used Rainbow on the top of the White base glass so it would show thru the confetti glass.

Miscellaneous Supplies
· Kiln Wash
· Elmer’s Glue
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Liquid
· Cloth with very little lint
· 1 sq foot of Smooth Shelf Paper

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

OPTIONAL ASSEMBLY:  This project could be made using only glass glue.

Step 1: Preparation
Clean Glass: Using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard. 

Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln wash to the mold set aside to dry. 
Clean & Prep Kiln Shelf: Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) or cut an 8 inch square of shelf paper.

Prep Base and Glass Top: Grind all 4 corners of the clear base and the scrap glass top.  This will encourage nice round ends on the glass barrette.  Clean and dry.

Prep Base step 2:  Cut the Dicro Slide ™ (Dicro Paper), Rainbow, and apply it to the top surface of the white base.  Let dry.

Step 2:  Position Glass: 

Using just a tiny spec of Elmer's™ Glue, position the top piece centered on the glass base. 

Tip: It is important to note that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass. 

Step 3:  Place Project into Kiln: Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf and run a full fuse.

Step 7: Prepare Kiln for Slump Process: Take the kiln shelf out of the kiln. Using the kiln posts, set the kiln washed mold in the middle of the kiln. Place Fiber Paper over mold. Place the fused fused project on the mold.  The mold is wide enough to accommodate slumping 3 or more barrettes at the same time.

Step 8: Slump Fuse: Use the below firing schedule to slump.

Note: If you do not get a full slump, you can ramp up another 5 degrees (never more than 20 degrees more) and never hold more than 20 minutes at any temperature.

· Step 9: Adding Barrette Clip

Attach the Metal Barrett finding using the Triolyse glue.  Make sure the glass is clean and dry and when placing it on the center, back side.  Maximum strength is reached after 6 hours. (Read the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue)
