Step-By-Step Instructions & Glass How To information

Step 1: Preparation -
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) to shelf and mold
    · Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln
- Grind and/or cut the Black glass ovals or square to form the Graduation cap.

Step 2:  Making the Glass Picture Frame  -
Cut 2 pieces 1 inch Wide x 8 inches Long
Cut 4 pieces 1 inch Wide x 6 inches Long
Cut 2 pieces 1 inch Wide x 4 inches Long
OR
If you wish to have the 4 corners over lap cut an additional set of 2 pieces 1 inch Wide x 4 inches Long.

Assemble to make sure you have all the pieces in the correct order.

Grind edges to remove splinters and make square. Clean and dry the glass piece AND round "Outer" corners of the frame slightly.  Tip: you might want to mark the out corners with a marker as you un-assemble the frame for grinding.

Bottom layer of frame consist of 2 horizontal pieces of 1 inch x 6 for the top and bottom of the frame plus 2 pieces of the 1 inch x 6 inch for the side.
- Push the pieces together tightly and make sure they are squared and lined up.
- Place some Fuser's Glue on the surfaces of the frame, especially close to where the glass joins to make a seam.

Top Layer of frame consist of 2 vertical pieces of 1 inch Wide x 8 inches Long for the vertical sides and the shortest pieces for the horizontal centers of the top and bottom of the frame
OR
If you like the look of the corner squares as we have done on our frame. Place an additional 1 inch x 6 wide on top of the bottom and top layers and do not use the 1 inch x 4 inch strips for the top and bottom of the frame.

Let dry completely before moving.

Step 3: Full Fuse Frame

Place the prepared glass picture frame into kiln onto kiln paper. It is important to note that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass and make sure to leave at least 1/2 inch spacing between pieces.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature.

Step 4: Attach Numbers and Confetti Glass to Frame.
Using tiny specs of Elmer's glue position each confetti glass and allow to dry 10 minutes.

Step 5: Finish Project - Clean and dry the glass. Apply E6000 glue to back of the Frame and position it on back of the frame to make sure it is lined up evenly on all side.  Use clips or clothes pins to hold the frame in place. The glue will reach its maximum strength in 24 hours.

Use the clear insert that comes with the frame and position it over your photo. When happy with the placement, draw around the outer edge of the clear plastic, this will provide you a cut line to follow when cutting with your scissors.  Insert the photo into back of the easel frame and slide latch closed.
