GLASS JEWELRY FINDINGS:

Other Materials:
· Fan Brush 
· Cold Polishing - (one of the following)

· Abrasive Stone

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass:  using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard. 
 

· Cut out Dicro Slide tm (Qty 2 for each earring) long and thin triangular strips and 1 small triangle to be used for top of earring where bails will be attached, set aside.

· Clean & Prep Kiln: 
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) to shelf and mold
    · Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf & one to drape over mold later
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

Step 2: Apply Dicro Slide tm: 
Soak the Dicro Slide tm for 20 seconds in water and then slide off the paper backing on to the surface of the tear drops, 2 for the front of each glass teardrop.  Repeat but place the smaller triangles on the backside top of each where the Drop Loops will be attached so it will hide the drop loops.  Smooth out any air bubbles and let dry.

Step 3:  Place into Kiln - Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.  

Step 4: Kiln Firing Process:

NOTE:  If firing in a microwave kiln, you will have to watch closely because you are only working with 1 layer of glass and the goal is only to round the edges of the glass and bond the Dicro Slide to the glass permanently.  We fired for 3 minutes at 50% power and then 1 1/2 minute at 80% power in our microwave kiln.
