Other Materials:
· Saran Wrap
· Fan Brush
· Cold Polishing - (one of the following)
· Grinder
· Abrasive Stone
· Diamond Nail File
· 3M™ Diamond Coated Sanding Sponges
Clean Up Supplies:
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass:
using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) to
shelf and mold
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf & one
to drape over mold later
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
Step 2 - Position Glass: Place Clear circle
over mold and using a marker draw the opening so you
know where to position your Moon, Ghost and Bat so the
moon and ghost are mostly inside the square. Using
Fuser's Glue position each piece and let dry.
Step 3 - Painting the Glass:
Turn glass over and on the back side squirt on some dark
blue. Using your brush and some water paint back
and forth in a horizontal patter. For a softer
look add more water to your brush. It is ok if
there are section where the blue paint is slightly
thicker and streaky. Wait until it is tacky and
then add a few random drops of yellow. Light brush
them in the same horizontal pattern.
Let dry
completely.
Turn
over the glass on to a paper plate. Using lots of water on
your brush spread a small amount of black paint on the lower half,
right over the ghost, to form the land area and horizon. Then
take a piece of saran wrap and bunch it up in you hand and then dab
it over the entire black paint area and inbetween dab it on to a
paper town to remove any black paint excess. This will give
you a random pattern. Using the paper towel, gently wipe the
ghost only in one direction. If it is too dark apply a wet
brush and repeat until you get the shadowing effect desired.
Take a
dry paint brush and light brush on some gold across the upper half
and moon as desired. Using the end of the brush handle dab it
in the gold paint and then onto the bat heads to form 2 eyes.
It is ok if the paint is thick for the eyes.
Let dry
completely.
