Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass:  using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

· Cut out black decal to form the triangles for the eyes and nose and cut out mouth.

· Cut out the Dicro Slide ™ to fit slightly smaller than the black decal.

· Clean & Prep Kiln:
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
    · Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

Step 2: Prepare Project
Place Ivy Leaves and the Pumpkin on glass circle, when happy with location, use a tiny spec of Elmer's glue, around the edges only,to hold them in place.

Let parts dry for at least 10 minutes until they do not move.
Step 3: Add Enhancements

Lightly cover the open areas of the glass with a light coating of Elmer's glue and sprinkle the white frit over it.

Using a brown or dark colored stringer, snap them into pieces and using a small drop of Elmer's glue them on top of the frit and leaves to form the vines and leave embellishments.

Let parts dry for at least 10 minutes until they do not move.

Then turn upside down over a paper plate or towel to remove excess frit and place it back into container. Remove any frit that is hanging over the edges.

Sprinkle yellow frit over the white where desired.  We placed it over the white on the lower half to form shadowing or act as a reflection of the light from the pumpkin.

Soak black decal in water for 20 seconds and then apply to surface of pumpkin to form facial features.  Smooth out any bubbles and when dry.  Apply Dicro Slide ™ over the black decals as desired.  Then place a few pieces of yellow frit over the Dicro Slide ™ as this will melt and look like candle flames.

Let parts dry for at least 10 minutes until they do not move all.

Step 4:  Place into Kiln
Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.   Leave a minimum of 1/2" (13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not touch and fuse together.

Step 5: Kiln Firing Process- Tack Fuse

SMALL/MEDIUM PROJECTS  ·  TACK FUSE

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   15°F/ 9°C 1,000°F / 538°C 1 Min. Remove Vent

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature  and it is ready to use.

Step 5: Add Pads
Clean and make sure the glass is very dry.  Peel off 4 surface guards and position even on the back side, outer edge of the glass.  The coaster is now ready to use.
