Step 2 - Position Glass: Place Clear circle
over mold and using a marker draw the opening so you
know where to position your glass dolphins. You want
them to display evenly around the dish opening on the
rolled edge but not to close to the outer edge.
If only using 1 layer of glass then cut a piece of paper to fit inside the
mold rectangle slumped area. Position the paper
pattern onto the glass so you know
where to position you glass dolphins.
Note what direction you want the Dolphinsto face and
then trace your dolphins onto the back of the Dicro
Slide
tm.
Cut out all three dolphins. Soak one a time in water for 20 seconds
and slide onto surface of a precut glass Dolphin, repeat until all 3
are covered.
Place
each Dolphin onto the clear glass, Dicro Slide
tm
facing up, around the paper patter and use Glastac Adhesive to hold them in place. Allow to
dry 20 minutes before moving.
Special Note:
If you do not want the Dolphins to be Fully fused then
attach them to the surface of the glass after you have
completed the full fuse (below) and before you run the Slump
Cycle then they will have more dimension.
Paint a curve like a wave where desired on the clear
glass. Use a tooth pick or chop stick and draw lines
thru the partially dried paint if you do not want it
to be a solid line. Wipe off the paint build up on the end of
the tool in-between creating wave lines. Let dry about 10 minutes and then blow off the surface
so it is free of blue specs.
Place the prepare Clear glass on top of the White glass
circle.
Optional Hanger: If you want to fuse in a wire
hanger, then on the top backside of the base glass
position your wire loop using a small piece of fiber
paper between the wire and the base. (The wire
will face the mold.) Glue a piece of white glass
noodle over the tips of the exposed wire and to the back
of the glass back. Then as the glass noodle melts
it will bind to the white glass base with the wire
sandwiched between it and the fiber paper will keep the
loop from binding to the rest of the glass so later you
can bend it and use as a hanger.
Step 3 - Place into Kiln:
Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
