Other Materials:
· Cold Polishing - (one of the following)
· Grinder
· Abrasive Stone
· Diamond Nail File
· 3M™ Diamond Coated Sanding Sponges

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass:  using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

· Clean & Prep Kiln:
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) to shelf and mold
    · Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf & one to drape over mold later
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

Step 2 - Position Glass:  Place Clear circle over mold and using a marker draw the opening so you know where to position your red glass stringers to form the red baseball stitching.  If only using the white glass them cut a piece of paper to fit inside the mold and then position that onto the glass so you know where to position you red glass stingers.

Snap a lot of the red stringer all as close the same lengths.  It is up to you how long you want them to be for the red stitches. Using either a tiny spec of Elmer's glue or
Glastac apply a tiny spec and position each red stringer.  Note: they how they are forming an open V shape.

Option - Enamel Paints:  Mix paint, shake bottle of red paint well to mix the paint pigment.  Paint on the red stitches.  Let dry for at least 10 minutes before moving glass.

Place the Clear glass on top of the White.

Optional Hanger:  If you want to fuse in a wire hanger, then on the top backside of the base glass position your wire loop using a small piece of fiber paper between the wire and the base.  (The wire will face the mold.)  Glue a piece of white glass noodle over the tips of the exposed wire and to the back of the glass back.  Then as the glass noodle melts it will bind to the white glass base with the wire sandwiched between it and the fiber paper will keep the loop from binding to the rest of the glass so later you can bend it and use as a hanger.

Step 3  - Place into Kiln: Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.   Leave a minimum of 1/2" (13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not touch and fuse together.

Note: if you want to have a wire hanger,

Step 4 - Prepare Fused Project:  If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature  and it is ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need to smooth.
Step 5 - Slump Glass: Place the glass, centered onto the mold. Slump per chart.

MEDIUM PROJECTS  ·  FULL SLUMP  ·  2 LAYERS

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   12°F/ 7°C 1,000°F / 538°C 1 Min. Remove Vent

Decrease/Temp   3°F/ 2°C 750°F / 400°C 1 min. DO NOT LOOK
Cool/Temp   Do Nothing 100°F / 38°C N/A DO NOT LOOK

Note: If you do not get a full slump, you can ramp up another 5 degrees (never more than 20 degrees more) and never hold more than 20 minutes at any temperature.

Note: If the glass did not fully slump into the mold, you will need to adjust your slump temperature up for future projects. If you can tell it has not fully slumped before it has cooled below 1,000 degrees you can ramp back up to your temperature 5 degrees more than you initial firing and hold for 10 minutes then allow the glass to anneal back to normal schedule, slower is best.
