Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
|
|
Step 1: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
|
|
Step 2: Painting Glass
Using copper Glass Paint, Brush it over the entire White
base blank. Then take a plastic fork and using the
back site of the prongs, place in the middle and drag
towards the outer edges of the white precut. Let
dry.
Place the clear precut cap on top of the painted white
blank. Using the Gold paint, brush a smaller spoon
design onto the surface of the clear cap.
Note: We used a white base with a clear glass
for the topside.
|
|
Step 3: Put Glass Bases Together
If needed, use "tiny" drops of glue and position the 2
pieces of glass together matching the edges. Let
sit for 10 minutes. |
|
Step 4: Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
Step 5: Kiln Firing Process- Full Fuse

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder. Slumping process will
polish the edges.
|
|
Step 6: Slump Fuse, Place into Kiln:
Set fused glass on mold and use the below firing schedule to slump.

Note: If you do not get a full slump, you can
ramp up another 5 degrees (never more than 20 degrees more) and never hold more than 20 minutes
at any temperature.
