Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:

Step 1:  Preparation
- Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

- Cut COE 96 striped glass using center of Oval pattern below and save all scrap pieces for top of oval.

- Cut White and base colored Glass using the outside diameter of the pattern below. (unless you are creating your own stripped glass.

- If creating your own stripped glass.  Cut Clear Glass using the outside diameter of the pattern below and snap the colored stringers, black, lavender and pink. and using a tiny spec of Elmer's glue position onto the clear oval glass.  Make sure that the stringer does not hang over.

Step 2:  Position Glass

- Using a tiny spec of Elmer’s Glue on the outer edges position the scrapes of strips glass around the outer edges of the white glass making sure not to be any more than 1/2 inch from an edge.  Adhere the small striped oval to the base glass. Let dry for at least 10 minutes or until flowers do not move.

· Clean & Prep Kiln:
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
    · Cut Shelf Paper 1/2 inch larger than the circles
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

· Prep Molds: Apply a good coat of kiln wash to the mold, set aside to dry.

Step 3: Full Fuse

Set the 3 layered prepared glass into the kiln to fire making sure the outer edges align. Tip: It is important to note that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass.

Place the handle in the kiln.

Place on top of the kiln shelf paper/shelf and full fuse.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature.
Step 4 - Prepare for Slump Process:
Take the kiln shelf out of the kiln. Using the kiln posts, set one under each side of the oval drop ring.  Make sure that they are not more than 3 inches high.  They can be 2 or even 1 inch for less of a drop. Make sure the mold in the middle of the kiln and use a level across the top of the mold to make sure that all directions are level.  This last step is very important as the glass drops so it will be even appearance.

NOTE: It is "Very" important that you slump at the slowest possible setting the slower the better to control the drop.  When you reach 1,290 to 1,300 degrees, make sure you check frequently.  As the glass drops it is very important that you do not let it soak too long once it hits the bottom.  You do not want the glass to thin and all the glass to puddle on the bottom.  Flash Vent to 1,000 if needed to stop the movement of the glass.
