Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
Step 1: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
- (see
picture A) Cut 4 circles that are approximately 3 3/4 inches in
diameter of the Thick Fiber paper. Take 2 of these circle and
cut a donut hole in the middle approximately 2 inches in diameter.
(see picture D where they are used later)
-
(see picture B) Using a tiny spec of
Elmer’s Glue
position each flower petal on the clear Circle Base.
Let dry for at least 10 minutes or until flowers do not
move.
- Stack
your 1/2 circles with the yellow centers
to
make the flower center
using a tiny spec of Elmer's glue to hold them
together. Make sure the yellow is on the top layer.
We used 2 yellow and 2 light amber. Or you can make the handle as high as
desired adding more of the Light Amber Glass circles. Let dry for at least 10 minutes
before moving.
Note:
Glass center can be tack fused versus full fuse to hold
the height more.
- Make
your glass lace before hand.
Click here to see instructions here on how to make glass
lace from glass frit.
Note:
Black Bottom can be Full fused or tack fused for a more
texture look with the glass lace.
- (see
picture C) Take the second glass daisy and position all
of the points closely in the center and then glue a 1
inch clear glass circle over it using tiny specs of
Elmer's glue.
(This
is an optional embellishment)
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper 1/2 inch larger
than the circles
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
· Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln
wash to the mold, set aside to dry.
Step 2: Full Fuse
Cover the shelf with Thin Fire.
Set all prepared items into the
kiln: The daisy petals on Clear Circle needs to be set on the
double layered circles of the thick shelf paper. Make sure the
clear base is centered so when Full fuse occurs it will allow the
glass to drape a small lip all the way around.
Set the
black circle with the lace on
it into the kiln, making sure none of the lace is to close to an
edge of the glass. Take the stand alone daisy and the
yellow layered daisy center
and place them into the kiln. Note:
The Black Circle with glass lace and the yellow layered daisy center
may be fired at a Tack fuse if you want more texture or form.
Tip: It is important to note
that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by the outer
edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass. Make sure all items are positioned at least 1 inch apart.
