Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
Clean Up Supplies:
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)
· Step 1:
Remove Glass. To keep from breaking the precut
pieces of glass, remove them from the package
using an X-acto knife.
|
|
·
Step 2 - Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
·
Break Glass Noodles into small pieces to fit and set aside
|
|
·
Step 3: Put Glass project together
· Use Toothpick or plastic Cocktail fork to put 3
"tiny"
drops of glue and evenly distributed for frit and
noodles to adhere.
· Position Heart in center of 3 inch Clear Heart
· Take a piece of black glass noodle and place a very
small drop of glue on the back side and
position it diagonally across the Red heart to create
the shaft of the arrow.
· Take a piece of red glass noodle and place a very
small drop of glue on the back side and
position it at the far end of the black shaft and on the
surface of the 3 inch clear heart to create the arrow.
· Take the pieces of black and red stringers and place a very
small drop of glue on the back side and
position them at angles at the opposite far end of the
black shaft and on the surface of the 3 inch clear heart
to create the feathers of the shaft.
· Take the "Medium" Red Frit and sprinkle
around the outer edges of the 3" inch clear heart
and try no to get on the Red Heart. Use a Pointed
tip Q-tips
and push the Frit around to be randomly place and not
piles
|
|
|
·
Step 4: Note:
It is important to note that you need to make sure to
touch all glass pieces by the outer edges to avoid
finger oil or prints on the surface of the glass.
·
Step 5 - Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges
of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex
gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf
paper/shelf. Leave a minimum of 1/2"
(13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not
touch and fuse together.
·

Step 7 - Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature and it is
ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need
to smooth. If you do find you need to do a lot of
abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the
finished piece to polish the edges.
|
|
·
Step 8: Finish Project
Clean
glass, dry and select Jewelry Bail color (Gold or
Silver). Apply Triolyse glue to bail and position on
back of glass, centered. It is best to wait 24 hours
for a solid cure and more strength before hanging.
