Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:

Clean Up Supplies:

Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

Step 1 - Preparation
Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

Cut 11 small rectangles of Dicro Slide tm and set aside.

Cut out 11 desired Horse designs and set aside. Note: make sure you have them positioned so they are going the direction you want.

Clean & Prep Kiln:
    Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

Step 2: Prepare Project for Dicro Slide tm & Decals
Take the Dicro Slide tm pieces and soak in distilled water for 20 to 30 seconds. Slide and apply to the front side of black glass.

Repeat for glass decal but apply to front side of Clear glass used for cap.

(Read the Glass Tips & Tricks for application)
Let dry for at least 20 minutes before moving piece.

Step 3: Put Glass project together

Use Toothpick or plastic Cocktail fork to position and apply a "tiny" drop of glue to adhere the solid color and clear top piece of jewelry glass together. You do not need to use the glue but if you are making many pieces of fused glass jewelry at the same time it will make you life easier when moving or positioning them in the kiln.

Position each piece of glass evenly on top of each other and let sit for a few minutes.

Step 4:  Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.   Leave a minimum of 1/2" (13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not touch and fuse together.

Ramping slowly is much better than a quick fire to allow plenty of time for burn off and venting.  Then turn off kiln and leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature

Step 5: Kiln Firing Process- Tack Fuse

SMALL/MEDIUM PROJECTS  ·  TACK FUSE

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   15°F/ 9°C 1,000°F / 538°C 1 Min. Remove Vent
Increase/Temp   Full Speed 1,350°F / 776°C 10+ or 10- Min.  Observe

Click here for Tips & Tricks for Cone equivalency to Glass Firing temperatures

SPECIAL NOTE:  If you want a full fuse.  You should not apply a low fire decal or it may burn off.  Fire a second time, apply low fire decal and tack fuse to insure bonding to the glass.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature.

Step 6: Adding Jewelry Findings

Attach the back of the glass (in same direction) to each round bracelet pad and centered when applying the Triolyse glue.  Maximum strength is reached after 6 hours. (Read the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue)

Clean with rubbing alcohol.
