Step 2: Decorate Spoon Base
Note: You will use a dab of tin spec Elmers glue towards
an outer edge and not in the center of any precut glass
item to avoid encapsulating burn off residue but still
all it to hold the glass in
place.
Cut: 1 red heart
in Half, 1 White Heart in Half,
and Snap glass noodles and/or stringers to the desired
size.
Place 1 small clear
oval ½ under the spoon ½ and ½ under you ½ white heart to
form the fish fins.
Note: The
small clear oval is used to bond the fin and spoon
together and as the ½ of white heart drapes down over
the Clear circle it will add dimension to the fins.
Place a
glass noodle strip over the seam where the ½ white heart
meets the glass spoon blank. This will help hide
the seam and increase the strength of the bond between
the 2 separate glass pieces form the find.
Use the
snapped glass noodles and/or stringers to to create the tail
in the form of a V shape.
Note:
it is important that you size the noodles or stringers
to fir the spoon base and not hang ovre the edges or you
may find they form pointed edges which will require you
to grind them off and refire to a polish finish.
Create fish lips out of the
red
heart halves by placing them in opposite directions.
Place the
black ½ circle on a light blue medium oval to create the fish eye
and then glue the blue glass eye to the fish head, the
widest part of the spoon.
Glue 9
random colored ½ circles on the body. Let dry for at
least 20 minutes before moving.
