Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:

Clean Up Supplies:

· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Detergent
· Cloth with very little lint (old T-shirt)

· Step 1 - Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

· Clean & Prep Kiln:
    · Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
    · Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
    · Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf and Shelf Paper into Kiln

NOTE: We used a small drop of Elmer's™ Glue to hold the pieces to the white base prior to firing in the kiln, just to hold them in place.
· Step 2: Prepare Project

- Use a tiny spec of Elmer's™ Glue to adhere the bat to the surface of the clear glass.
- Place the clear on top of the white base.

· Step 3: Prepare Decal

Cut out the letters to create Bat Man.  Soak in water and slide onto the glass in the desired position.

· Step 4:  Place into Kiln Using Fingers around outer edges of the fusible glass project or better yet wear latex gloves, pick up and place the project on the kiln shelf paper/shelf.   Leave a minimum of 1/2" (13 mm) space between each project to ensure they do not touch and fuse together.

· Step 5: Kiln Firing Process- Full Fuse

SMALL PROJECTS  ·  FULL FUSE  ·  2 LAYERS

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   30°F/ 18°C 1,000°F / 535°C 1 Min. Remove Vent
Increase/Temp   Full Speed 1,400°F / 815°C 10+ or 10- Min.  Observe
Flash/Cool Highest Speed 1,100°F / 590°C 0 Min. Open & Close Lid
Hold/Temp   5°F/ 3°C 955°F / 513°C 10 min. Hold Fire
Cool/Temp   Do Nothing 100°F / 38°C N/A DO NOT LOOK

· Step 6: Prepare Fused Project
If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature  and it is ready to use. Use abrasives on any rough edges you need to smooth.  If you do find you need to do a lot of abrasive or use a grinder you may need to refire the finished piece to polish the edges.

· Step 7: Attach Tie-Tac or Pin Back.
It is important to judge the weight of the finished piece.  You may find that you should attach 2 Tie-Tacs so the weight of the glass piece will not pull a hole in the clothing.   If using one only, you should attach it approximately 1/3 rd of the way from the top of the glass pin on the backside.

Alternant choice - Attach a Metal Pin Bar

Using the Triolyse glue.  Make sure the glass is clean and dry and when placing it on the center, back side.  Maximum strength is reached after 6 hours. (Read the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue)
