Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
|
|
·
Step 1: Preparation
- Cut out your glass foot from the pattern above.
- Cut or Break the small red ovals for use as toe
nails. Suggest making them different sizes like
you natural toe nails. You might find that you may want
to grind them even depending up the final shape desired.
- Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
-
Use your scissors to cut out strips from Decal to form the
straps of the sandle. We cut on end as a sharp angle
where they meet at the toes. Apply the Decal to the top
side
of the white glass foot.
See
Glass Tips & Tricks section: How to use Fusible Glass
Decals) -
Using a tiny spec of Elmer’s Glue
position each toe nail on the white foot Base. Then
apply the foot to the clear base. Make sure to
position it in the center and close to the bottom edge
where the night light clip will be mounted.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
· Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln
wash to the mold, set aside to dry.
|
·
Step 2: Decorate
Base
- Place a few drops of Elmer’s White Glue in a paper cup add a few drops of water. Using
a sponge or paint brush spread
a thin layer on the top of the full fused base where you
want to sprinkle the white frit. Then sprinkle frit
and let dry 10 minutes.
-
Using Brown and White Glassline Paint, mix to get a light
sandy color. You will use more white than
brown. Then use a paint brush or sponge and cover
all of the white frit and clear base that is still
visible. Be careful to avoid the white foot and/or clean
it off.
Let
dry at least 10 minutes before placing in the kiln.
|
|
|
·
Step 3: Full Fuse
Tip: It is important to note
that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by
the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the
surface of the glass.
Place on top of the kiln shelf paper/shelf and full fuse.

Step
6: Adding Night Light Clip
Make sure the
glass is clean and dry and when placing the clip on the center,
back side along the bottom edge. Attach
the Metal Night Light Clip using the Triolyse glue. We suggest using small clips or even
clothes pins to hold the clip in place while drying. Maximum strength is reached after 6
hours.
(Read
the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue) Tip:
If you are having trouble getting the clip to attach and
you are sure the glass and clip are clean it is most
likely you need to scuff up the surface of either the
metal and/or the glass where you are attaching the clip
to provide a surface for the glue to bond.
