Small Fused Project step-by-step instructions:
|
|
·
Step 1: Preparation
· Clean Glass using Alcohol or Dish Washing
Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of
paper or cardboard.
-
Use your scissors cut out Moon shape from Dicro
Slide ™ (We found a graphic we liked and then
traced it onto the back of the Dicro
Slide ™ using a pencil). Apply the Dicro
Slide ™ to the back side
of the glass. (See our
Tips & Tricks for using Fusible
Dicro Slide ™)
-
Using a tiny spec of Elmer’s Glue
position each star on Clear Night Light Base.
· Clean & Prep Kiln:
· Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer)
· Cut Shelf Paper to fit shelf
· Place Kiln Shelf Supports, Shelf
and Shelf Paper into Kiln
· Prep Mold: Apply a good coat of kiln
wash to the mold, set aside to dry.
|
·
Step 2: Full Fuse
Tip: It is important to note
that you need to make sure to touch all glass pieces by
the outer edges to avoid finger oil or prints on the
surface of the glass.
Place on top of the kiln shelf paper/shelf and full fuse.

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened
until the next day so your project has had plenty of
time to anneal back to room temperature.
|
·
Step 3: Decorate
Base
- Place a few drops of
Elmer’s White Glue in a paper cup add a few drops of water. Using
a sponge or paint brush spread
a thin layer on the top of the full fused base where you
want to sprinkle the white frit. Then sprinkle frit
and let dry 10 minutes.
-
Using a small to medium tip and Black Glassline Pen Paint,
draw facial expressions on the front side of the glass
over the moon shape.
-
Using a small to medium tip and Yellow Glassline Pen
Paint, decorate your stars.
Let
dry at least 10 minutes before placing in the kiln.
|
·
Step 4 - Prepare for Slump Process:
Take the kiln shelf out of the kiln. Using the kiln posts, set the kiln washed mold in the middle of the kiln. Place the
prepared fused project on the mold and slump fuse.

Step
5: Adding Night Light Clip
Make sure the
glass is clean and dry and when placing the clip on the center,
back side along the bottom edge. Attach
the Metal Night Light Clip using the Triolyse glue. We suggest using small clips or even
clothes pins to hold the clip in place while drying. Maximum strength is reached after 6
hours.
(Read
the Tips & Tricks for using Triolyse Glue) Tip:
If you are having trouble getting the clip to attach and
you are sure the glass and clip are clean it is most
likely you need to scuff up the surface of either the
metal and/or the glass where you are attaching the clip
to provide a surface for the glue to bond.
