· Kiln Wash or Hi-fire shelf paper
· Rubbing Alcohol, Dish Washing Liquid
· Cloth with very little lint

Step 1 - Remove Glass
To keep from breaking the precut pieces of glass, remove them from the package using an X-acto knife.

Step 2 - Preparation
Clean Glass: Use Alcohol or Dish Washing Detergent. Then dry and set aside on a clean piece of paper or cardboard.

Clean & Prep Kiln Shelf: Apply Kiln Wash (Shelf Primer) or cut a 5 inch square of hi-fire shelf paper.

Step 3 – Create Copper Leaf
Cut a tree leave out of the copper sheet using the pattern and scissors. Use a stylus or pencil tip to indent veins in the leaf.

TIP: We found a leaf from a tree outside to make our pattern. Nature provides us with lots of leaf patterns.

Step 4 – Assemble Leaf and Circles
Cut 4 pieces of wire Ύ” long. Bend each wire in a ‘U’ shape. Place the copper leaf on top of the white 3” circle using a dab of glue to hold it in place. Place a dab of glue in three places approximately ½” apart at the bottom of the white circle. Place an opened ended wire on the glue in each of the 3 places on the white circle. Use a small dab of glue place an open ended ‘U’ at the top of the circle. Put a small dab of glue in the center of the leaf and place a clear 3” circle on top of the white. Place circle on the kiln shelf.

Step 5 – Create Decorative Dangles
Cut 3 pieces of wire Ύ” long. Bend each wire in a ‘U’ shape. It is best to have your kiln shelf ready and create the dangles on the shelf so you don’t have to move them. Use a small dab of glue to glue the open ended part of the ‘U’ shape high temp wire between a nugget and a ½” circle. Lay 2 more nuggets in a line so that all three nuggets are in a row touching. Repeat 2 more times. You will have a total of 3 dangles.

Step 6 – Full Fuse using the below firing schedule.

SMALL PROJECTS  ·  FULL FUSE  ·  2 LAYERS

Process Temp/Min Desired Temp Soak Temp Action
Increase/Temp   30°F/ 18°C 1,000°F / 535°C 1 Min. Remove Vent

If possible, leave the kiln sit unopened until the next day so your project has had plenty of time to anneal back to room temperature.

Step 7– Bend Brass Rod
Use a pliers to bend the rod as shown in the finished picture. It will have a curve with a small hook shaped on the end.

Step 8 – Attach Dangles
Use a piece of chain about 1 ½” long to attach each dangle to the fused leaf circle. Hang fused leaf circle from brass rod.
